Letters of Support Needed

I need the help of all my supporters to make a difference!

We need to create a letter writing campaign to the Ventura Star and Camarillo Acorn. We have only 2 weeks until the absentee ballots are sent out to Camarillo. Did you know that out of the 45,116 registered voters in Camarillo, 21,060 are absentee voters? This is HUGE! Almost half the election can be won or lost with absentee votes!

So I am asking for your help…

Please write a letter to the Camarillo Acorn and/or the Ventura Star to support Kelly Long for Pleasant Valley School Board. In this letter you can state your reasons for why you would vote for me, why I would be the right person for this job, anything that you would feel is relevant. I am looking for letters to persuade people who don’t know me to vote for me. This is a very successful way to raise awareness especially before October 7th, the absentee ballots are sent out, and before Election Day, November 6th.

In Camarillo, I cannot think of a more important election decision than voting in a new member to the Pleasant Valley School District school board.

If you have followed the meetings of the current board, either in person or on television, you understand that there is a need for some new leadership at this level. Kelly Long can invigorate this board with fresh enthusiasm and effective leadership in guiding PVSD in the coming years. She is a nurturing mom and active parent at her local school.

In the tough budget times ahead, Kelly will be able to use her professional business skills to keep PVSD running efficiently while striving to continue the excellent achievement of our students. Kelly understands the important roles of good nutrition and well-maintained facilities in providing the best learning environments possible at all schools. She is supportive of the many effective programs now in place and will work with teachers and administrators in implementing new or alternative programs as they are researched and approved.

As a former school board member, I recognize in Kelly those traits that are necessary in becoming an effective educational leader in public schools. I look forward to having Kelly serve on the PVSD school board for many years.

Dear Friends…

Dear Friends,

As the only parent running with two school-aged children in Pleasant Valley School District (PVSD), I have a vested interest in our educational system.  As a citizen of Camarillo, I believe our responsibility is to prepare our children for the future.  Therefore I, Kelly Long, have chosen to run for the Pleasant Valley School Board of Trustees and I am asking for your support.

I am an experienced business woman who is a mechanical engineer by education from CSULB.  I have 12 years experience in the healthcare industry as a project manager and director of sales and marketing. Currently I am a project management consultant while also focusing on my family and its education.  I also volunteer on the Camarillo Council PTA Board, the La Mariposa PTA Board, and in my children’s classrooms.  I am actively involved in delivering successful programs such as:  healthier cafeteria food, building teaching gardens, and leading major fundraisers for school programs and initiatives.  I am also proactive in the community on school budget development and other budget issues.

As a Pleasant Valley School District Board Member I promise to be an effective and efficient leader to benefit our children:

EFFECTIVE

  • Create conditions and culture for successful teaching and learning.  Improving communication from the board and to ensure we have successful programs district-wide.
  • Engage the community and its resources by implementing community volunteer programs to take advantage of their skills and knowledge wherever advantages such as reading, tutoring, and after school programs.
  • Seek out new innovative and creative programs within budgetary constraints that enhance learning and development experiences.

EFFICIENT

  • Implement proven and economically responsible programs across the district such as fully utilizing our school libraries to maximize this invaluable resource for our students.
  • Maximize 21st Century Technology to promote the highest level of academics. Ensure computer skills and capabilities are equivalent at all elementary schools and available when transitioning into middle schools.

If you support my platform and want to work with me to prepare our children for a bright and successful future that will benefit all of us, I ASK YOU TO CAST YOUR VOTE FOR KELLY LONG ON NOVEMBER 6TH 2012.

Your donation and endorsement are also needed to win this election.  It takes a community to make it successful. Also I ask you to spread the word to 10 or more friends.  Thank you for your consideration and please visit our website at www.KellyLongforPVSD.com for more information.

Best regards,

Kelly Long

Communication is Key

Today was the posting day at many of the Pleasant Valley schools.  This is the day kids find out who is in their class and what teacher they have.   I loved being there to volunteer and support our kids

While spending time at school this week I have gotten the chance to talk to teachers and parents and have learned many things.  If I am elected as a Pleasant Valley school board member I will continue to talk to staff, parents, and our community to strengthen communications to better education.
