I am pleased to announce that I am running for Ventura County Supervisor – District 3. Our current supervisor is retiring after 20 years of service and I am excited for the opportunity to bring new energy and ideas to Ventura County.
As a business owner and mother in this community, I decided four years ago to enter public service and ran for a seat on the Pleasant Valley School Board. To this day, I am truly grateful and humbled by the outpouring of support for my first ever political campaign and proud to have come in first place, beating two incumbents and garnering 15,000 votes – one of the highest vote totals ever for the district.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with many leaders in our community including Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy, Fillmore City Council Member Rick Neal, Pleasant Valley School Board Member Ron Speakman, and Pleasant Valley School District Superintendent RaeAnne Michael and am proud to have their support in my campaign for Supervisor.
The opportunity to serve in this incredible district and build relationships with our teachers, parents and administrators has been amazing but as I’ve sp
ent time getting to know more and more members of our community, I’ve also noticed some heartbreaking trends. Too many parents who drop their students off in the morning to one of our schools continue from campus to hit an overcrowded freeway and drive to work in Santa Barbara or LA. Too many more simply return home to continue hunting for a good job capable of supporting their family in our beautiful but expensive community.
As we watch our businesses leave and watch our politicians do
nothing to stop or replace them, Ventura County is losing its middle class. In order to protect our world class schools, public services and our quality of life we also need to protect the strong economy that makes them possible. Our county needs new, fiscally responsible and business friendly leadership to secure our way of life for future generations of farmers, surfers and those looking for a safe community to raise or start a family.
I am proud of the record I have as Board Trustee of the Pleasant Valley School District and I promise to work hard to provide the same effective and efficient leadership on the Board of Supervisors.
But I can’t do this without your help.
This will be a hard fought campaign between those who want business as usual and those who know reform is necessary to save our county. I would be honored and thankful if you could contribute the maximum of $750, $250, $100 or any amount. I know what it takes to win big in a hard fought election and will work every day to talk meet voters and earn
their support. The race for Supervisor will be bigger and more expensive than my School Board race four years ago, but I promise to run an efficient campaign and respect any investment you make into my campaign and our community.
The end of this m
onth represents our campaign’s first reporting deadline. December 31st will be a major barometer for every candidate running for this seat and we need to show that we are strong and have the resources needed to win. If you can contribute before the end of the year, it would be very helpful.
