Semi Official Final Election Results – Update #4

Thank you to everyone for your support and your vote on June 7th!  Today’s update from the Ventura County Elections Office show that we are holding strong with 22.4% of the Ventura County Supervisor District 3’s total votes (35,993). We are already hard at work on strategy and fundraising for the Ventura County Supervisor District 3 Run Off in November.

I am ready to work for you! If we are going to be successful, I need to start the General Election with a strong base of support – and I need your help. We have to reach many more people with our message before the upcoming election! This cannot be done without gifts, committed volunteers, lots and lots of outreach and discussion events. My opponent is backed by public employee unions and special interest groups who like the status quo. They are going to spend a lot of money and fight hard to win. We have to be able to compete!

Your gift today will make a difference!  It will show the community that you believe in my campaign and that you think I am the best candidate.  Will you make a gift todayI’m not asking for me. In fact, it’s not easy to ask anyone for money. However, our County and its government are too important. We need to stand up and make sure that our community and citizens are well represented. The maximum limit is $1,500 per couple / $750 per person; Any donation ($50, $100, $250, $500, $750) up to November is appreciated! Join our team and make a difference.

Thank You for Supporting Me and Believing in Me!

Thank you to everyone for your support and vote for me.  Without each of you, we could not have come this far or done so well. Tuesday’s results of over 6,000 votes (22% of the voters) ranked us as the top two candidates for the County Supervisor District 3 election.  With your help, our next step is to win in November’s election!

The results show that our message of renewal and improvement has taken hold of and that many voters agree that change is needed. As we approach the November election, I will continue to be an advocate on behalf of our Ventura County citizens focusing on the needs of its families, seniors, veterans, and community with emphasis on:

  • Strengthening our economic base and increasing the number of Good Paying Jobs in Ventura County
  • Supporting our Public Services and developing new programs to decrease crime, improve public safety, and reduce gang violence
  • Be Fiscally Conservative and govern through balanced budgets to sustain our quality of life.

As a Pleasant Valley School Board Trustee, experienced businesswomen, and active mother I will bring both a fresh new way of looking at our county and provide a strong skill set to be an effective and efficient County Supervisor. Clearly, the election shows that many voters agree with my perspective that improving county government through balanced budgets, innovation and more focused priorities is the right approach for our county. This is a very important office to hold for the future of Ventura County, and we need to win it!

Letters of Support Needed

I need the help of all my supporters to make a difference! We need to create a letter writing campaign to the Ventura Star and Camarillo Acorn. We have only 3 weeks until the Primary Election on June 7th, 2016. Did you know that about 1/2 of our voters are absentee voters? This is HUGE! Almost half the election can be won or lost with absentee votes!

So I am asking for your help…

Please write a letter to the Camarillo Acorn, Ventura Star, and/or the Santa Paula Times to support Kelly Long for Ventura County Supervisor District 3. In this letter you can state your reasons for why you would vote for me, why I would be the right person for this job, anything that you would feel is relevant. I am looking for letters to persuade people who don’t know me to vote for me. This is a very successful way to raise awareness especially as the absentee ballots are in people’s hands and before Primary Election Day, June 7th.

Everyone reads the newspaper in Ventura County!

Candidate with a Winning Record

KellyLongAnnouncementGatheringI am pleased to announce that I am running for Ventura County Supervisor – District 3.  Our current supervisor is retiring after 20 years of service and I am excited for the opportunity to bring new energy and ideas to Ventura County.

As a business owner and mother in this community, I decided four years ago to enter public service and ran for a seat on the Pleasant Valley School Board. To this day, I am truly grateful and humbled by the outpouring of support for my first ever political campaign and proud to have come in first place, beating two incumbents and garnering 15,000 votes – one of the highest vote totals ever for the district.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with many leaders in our community including Ventura County Supervisor Peter Foy, Fillmore City Council Member Rick Neal, Pleasant Valley School Board Member Ron Speakman, and Pleasant Valley School District Superintendent RaeAnne Michael and am proud to have their support in my campaign for Supervisor.

The opportunity to serve in this incredible district and build relationships with our teachers, parents and administrators has been amazing but as I’ve spVentura County Trafficent time getting to know more and more members of our community, I’ve also noticed some heartbreaking trends. Too many parents who drop their students off in the morning to one of our schools continue from campus to hit an overcrowded freeway and drive to work in Santa Barbara or LA. Too many more simply return home to continue hunting for a good job capable of supporting their family in our beautiful but expensive community.

As we watch our businesses leave and watch our politicians do Santa Clara Valley Free Jacketsnothing to stop or replace them, Ventura County is losing its middle class. In order to protect our world class schools, public services and our quality of life we also need to protect the strong economy that makes them possible. Our county needs new, fiscally responsible and business friendly leadership to secure our way of life for future generations of farmers, surfers and those looking for a safe community to raise or start a family.

I am proud of the record I have as Board Trustee of the Pleasant Valley School District and I promise to work hard to provide the same effective and efficient leadership on the Board of Supervisors.

But I can’t do this without your help.

This will be a hard fought campaign between those who want business as usual and those who know reform is necessary to save our county. I would be honored and thankful if you could contribute the maximum of $750, $250, $100 or any amount. I know what it takes to win big in a hard fought election and will work every day to talk meet voters and earn
their support. The race for Supervisor will be bigger and more expensive than my School Board race four years ago, but I promise to run an efficient campaign and respect any investment you make into my campaign and our community.

The end of this mVentura County Landscapeonth represents our campaign’s first reporting deadline. December 31st will be a major barometer for every candidate running for this seat and we need to show that we are strong and have the resources needed to win. If you can contribute before the end of the year, it would be very helpful.

Final Days Until the Election, Help Needed

Hello to All,

Thank you for your support in my running for the Pleasant Valley School Board.  Many of you have asked how is it going and I wanted to give you an update.  November 6th is coming up on us very fast.  We need your help to make sure the we win!  Details below.

Update on the last 4 Months

Just to recap the last 4 months, I would like to thank everyone for the supporting the Kelly Long campaign by putting up a sign in your lawn and car, endorsements, wearing a button, passing out brochures, walking the neighborhoods, talking with friends, holding parties and meet n greets, letters to the editor, Facebooking, emailing, and sending in a donations for campaign costs.

  • Over 240 signs out in mostly families’ yards.  This says a lot about the support to our campaign!
  • Over 11,000 brochures were sent out to our absentee ballot voters.  This provided additional public awareness. Over half our community votes absentee.Click to see Mailer: Long2012Mailer Additional mailers delivered door to door and at events.
  • We also have been to many locations in Camarillo such as the Farmer’s Market, the soccer fields, the Chili Cook Off (where we won 2ndPlace for the People’s Choice), and Concert at the Park to name a few.
  • There are such great organizations that have welcomed me to their meetings and/or events in town such as the Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce, CPRLWF, AAUW, Camarillo Hospice, Pleasant Valley Historical Society, PVEA, PVSD, and Friends of the Library.
  • The Ventura County of Education and the Pleasant Valley School District has provided new board member training in case we win the election.
  • The Chamber of Commerce also held a forum for the Candidates to answer questions and talk about our platform.

I may have missed some event we have done. It has been a very busy election.

Next Week – We need your help!

We are wrapping it up and want to end with it with a bang!  There are opportunities to help:

  1. Spreading the word.  Being supported by the community is extremely important.  Those who don’t know me will ask perhaps one of you if they should vote for me.
  2. Shake some signs. We will be waving to people on the corner with signs Sat 11/3 through Tuesday 11/6 at 7 am to 8 am and 5 pm to 6 pm.  Email me if you want to join in or just come by!
